World Malaria Day, which is marked every year on April 25, highlights the need for sustained political commitment to malaria prevention and control. The disease kills over 600,000 people each year, with 95 percent of fatalities occurring in Africa, predominantly among children. This year, the world's largest vaccine manufacturer has begun distributing a new malaria vaccine in Africa. Scientists are also looking for ways to eradicate malaria altogether, including through a technique called gene drive. FRANCE 24's Julia Sieger tells us more.
