U.S. health regulators authorized Pfizer's antiviral pill for COVID-19 treatment Wednesday, making it the first oral and at-home treatment for the disease, providing a new tool to fight the fast-spreading Omicron variant. The long-awaited milestone comes as U.S. cases, hospitalizations and deaths are all rising and health officials warn of a tsunami of new infections from the variant.
