Today, we’re going to talk about the real reason why your serotonin is low. Low serotonin can lead to depression or anxiety.

Serotonin is involved with a person’s mood changes. If there is a problem with serotonin, it can affect your mood, behavior, and many other things.

SSRIs are a class of medications. This type of medication is one of the most common treatments for low serotonin.

However, SSRIs come with unwanted side effects, including suicidal thoughts, sexual dysfunction, and more. Another big side effect of SSRIs is discontinuation syndrome, which is basically withdrawal.

So, what causes a serotonin deficiency? Well, 95% of the serotonin in your body is made by the good bacteria in your gut. The microbiome is a huge part of a person’s health and the ability to make neurotransmitters. If there is something wrong with your gut bacteria, you’re going to have a problem with serotonin.

I believe a huge potential cause of low serotonin is glyphosate. Glyphosate is one of the most common herbicides. There is some interesting research related to glyphosate and lowered serotonin.

How to increase serotonin naturally:
1. Consume organic, non-GMO foods and grass-fed, grass-finished meats
2. Avoid common foods that are heavily sprayed (soy, corn, wheat, sugar, and seed oils)
3. Consume probiotic foods
4. Consume more vegetables
5. Get plenty of sun exposure
6. Exercise
7. Do keto and intermittent fasting
8. Take apple cider vinegar regularly (1 Tbsp in a glass of water)
