The Union Health Ministry, on Friday, released a guideline on managing the monkeypox disease. The guidelines came after India’s first confirmed case of monkeypox was recorded in Kerala’s Kollam on Thursday.
The 35-year-old patient reached Trivandrum from the UAE on July 12. His friend in the UAE had tested positive for monkey pox a few days ago. The patient is recuperating well, the Kerala Government has informed.
The Union Health Ministry has rushed a central team to Kerala to oversee the situation given concerns of the infection being extremely transmissible.
