In honor of the Stroke Awareness Month in May, Hazem Shoirah, MD, Director of Thrombectomy Services at Mount Sinai Queens and an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery, Neurology, and Radiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, discusses neurosurgical treatment of stroke.

Hazem Shoirah, MD, is the Director of Thrombectomy Services at Mount Sinai Queens and an Assistant Professor of Neurosurgery, Neurology, and Radiology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. After earning his medical degree at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Dr. Shoirah completed an internship in internal medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He then finished a medical residency in neurology at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where he served as Chief Resident. Dr. Shoirah has extensive practice in neurological medicine, reflecting his comprehensive experience both as vascular neurology fellow at the University of Pittsburg Medical Center and as an endovascular neurosurgery fellow at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
