Spike in highly contagious disease at Manston migrant centre

The Home Office says asylum seekers at a reception centre in Kent will be vaccinated against diphtheria, after Sky News obtained leaked public health documents detailing concerns about migrant accommodation.

There are fears over potential outbreaks in Swindon, Sheffield, Kent, Birmingham, Hertfordshire and Greater Manchester.

It comes as a deal between the UK and France, to tackle small boat crossings in the Channel, is expected to be signed within days.
