Providing convenience for diabetics and their treatment teams: the eDiabetesdossier

The eDiabetesdossier (electronic diabetes record) solution is closing gaps in care: diabetes counts among the major widespread diseases. In Switzerland, about half a million people suffer from diabetes. Traditionally based on piles of paper, documentation used to be cumbersome and taxing; therefore, poolprax created the eDiabetesdossier based on the InterSystems solutions HealthShare and IRIS for Health. A specialized record system focusing on the presentation of the patient's glucose profile, it also displays the insulin doses administered via pens or pumps, which is of importance to physicians who manage the treatment. The eDiabetesdossier transmits this data in real time, i.e. asynchronously and in a decentralized way. This means that, in order to achieve optimal care, neither the patient nor the physician or specialist has to be present at a certain location and a given time.
