Omicron Virus | Signs | Symptoms | Treatment | Dr Anita Mathew | Fortis Mulund

In this video Dr Anita Mathew who is a Consultant of Infectious Diseases at Fortis Hospital, Mulund is sharing her views about how to prevent and treat this new Covid variant and what are its symptoms.

The Omicron variant causes more of upper respiratory symptoms. Symptoms are similar to that of flu such as sore throat, congestion of nose or running nose, severe body ache, high fever and some amount of cough. These symptoms can last anywhere between 5-7 days. Some patients can have severe symptoms.

Symptoms such as chest congestion or breathlessness that are predominantly found in patients of Delta variant is less frequently found in patients of this new variant. A small percentage of people can have severe disease as compared to the rest of the patients. If you notice Covid symptoms, then you should monitor yourself regularly & isolate yourself as soon as possible.

Omicron is a highly transmissible disease, so it is important to mask up, use sanitiser regularly and practise social distancing. This is Covid appropriate behaviour.
