Objectives:
1. Explore characteristics of Long-Stay Pediatric ICU patients & their families.
2. Describe the process of Group Concept Mapping as a research methodology.
3. Communicate domains of high-quality care for Long-Stay Pediatric ICU patients and families.

Dr. Leland was appointed the Director of Fairbanks Center for Medical Ethics in July 2022 and continues to serve as the FCME Clinical Ethics Fellowship Director, which he has done since August 2017. He completed the Fairbanks Fellowship in Clinical Ethics with the 2014-2015 class. Dr. Leland joined the IU School of Medicine faculty in 2016 after completing general pediatrics residency and subsequently, a fellowship in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. Currently, he serves as Associate Professor of Pediatrics within the Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and is the Medical Director for Pediatric Ethics at Riley Hospital for Children. As a second-generation physician, Dr. Leland gained an appreciation for the practice of medicine at an early age, with a particular interest in the care of children. He was drawn to the field of Pediatric Critical Care where he identified Clinical Ethics to be of great significance, committed to improving the care of patients and families guided by ethical frameworks for decision making.
Dr. Leland is an Indiana native, father of two, Hoosier basketball fanatic, and electric car enthusiast.

The Ethics Lecture Series is free and open to all. Continuing education credit is offered to physicians, nurses, social workers, psychologists, and chaplains at no charge, regardless of their institutional affiliation.
