Next-generation sequencing to improve diagnosis and surveillance of infectious diseases

Published
Next-generation sequencing (NGS) enables to identify mutations in the genome of disease-causing pathogens. It provides valuable information to inform treatment decisions and track pathogens circulating across the world to rapidly detect new threats and respond with targeted public health measures.

Working with partners and countries, FIND works to establish the use of NGS technologies for the diagnosis of drug-resistant tuberculosis and other diseases, and genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2, tuberculosis, antimicrobial resistance, and other outbreak-prone diseases.
