New eating disorder screening guidelines for teens could lead to earlier treatment

Published
The Canadian Paediatric Society released new guidelines this week urging primary-care providers to begin screening all adolescent patients for eating disorders at routine checkups and other medical appointments.

The organization says eating disorder cases have risen since the COVID-19 pandemic and early detection and diagnosis by such health-care providers could lead to faster treatment.

As Sean Previl reports, the guidance is being welcomed by many as something that will "shine a light" on a health issue that still doesn't get enough awareness, despite it impacting so many.
