Mbale authorities concerned at surge in non communicable diseases

Published
Mbale District authorities are concerned about an explosion of non-communicable diseases in the area, largely attributed to a change in lifestyle among the populace. The concern followed a health camp organized by Mbale Moman MP Miriam Mukhaye for the people of Busiu in Mbale district. The camp saw over 5,000 people screened for non-communicable diseases by ophthalmologists, dentists and general doctors as the strain of poor health services starts to impact society. Dr Moses Namakhwa, the in-charge of Busiu health centre 4 said conditions that couldn't be handled at the camp were sent to Mbale referral hospital.
