In 2018, Lisa Miller became one of approximately 300 patients worldwide diagnosed with a rare, neurodegenerative disease known as CSF1R-related leukoencephalopathy. The genetic condition causes cognitive decline; personality changes; and a range of movement disorders. There is no cure, but thanks to innovative research led out of Mayo Clinic in Florida, Lisa learned she was a candidate for an emerging new treatment – a bone marrow transplant. This is her story of how the collaboration between neuroscientists and the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center has given her hope for a bright future.
