Life-saving Miracle by PIG Heart! US man doing well for three days after transplant surgery

In a medical first, doctors in Maryland have transplanted a genetically modified pig’s heart into a human patient in a last-ditch effort to save his life.

David Bennett, 57, is doing well three days after the experimental seven-hour procedure in Baltimore, doctors say.

The transplant marks a step in the decades-long quest to one day use animal organs for life-saving operations.

The surgery, performed by a team at the University of Maryland Medicine.

For Bennett, the heart transplant was his last option.

"It was either die or do this transplant. I want to live. I know it’s a shot in the dark, but it’s my last choice,” Bennett
