It's bad enough that the Supreme Court declined to hear Steven Donizger's appeal against Chevron, which launched an unprecedented corporate prosecution against the lawyer who successfully sued them for poisoning the water and people in Ecuador's Amazon. But what makes it worse is that the only Supreme Court judges to dissent were conservatives Brett Kavanaugh and Neal Gorsich. In other words, when it comes to issues of corporate greed and protecting Ecuadorians from literal death and disease at the hand of corporations, all liberal judges came down worse than two conservative ones. As Steve explains "I think the liberal justices are much more transactional. People talk about a liberal conservative split on the Supreme Court. Those are just labels. What really happens is on social issues, there is a split. On economic policy issues, on corporate issues, there usually isn't. They all walk in lockstep. Private corporate prosecutions, as a result of this refusal to take my appeal, are now essentially legalized in the United States.
