The police have released the statement of Jithu, the woman accused of setting ablaze her elder sister. 25-year-old Vismaya was floored as Jithu stabbed her and she was set on fire after pouring kerosene. According to police, Vismaya tried to hold Jithu close to her as the fire spread through her body, but Jithu defended herself with the foot of a nearby table. According to Jithu's statement, her family loved her elder sister more, which culminated in murder. Police took Jithu to her home in Peruvaram and collected evidence. Police found a blood-stained dress she wore at the time of the attack. The evidence collection lasted for about an hour. Police said that Jithu gave accurate statements. She will be produced in the Paravur court in the evening after a medical examination.
Vismaya and Jithu are the children of Sivanandan and Jiji of Prasadam at Arakkaparambil in Panorama Nagar in Peruvaram. Vismaya was found dead inside her house around 3 pm on Tuesday. The murder took place when the parents went to see a doctor in Aluva. They left after tying Jithu's hands as she has mental problems. But in the meantime, Jithu forced her sister to untie her. After she was untied, they had an altercation over Jithu's broken love affair. According to the police, Vismaya was against Jithu's love affair and they had fought over the matter before. Their neighbours claim that Jithu used to harass her family members. Meanwhile, Jithu took a knife and stabbed Vismaya. After this, Jithu went missing. A search was conducted at railway stations and bus stands in Ernakulam and Thrissur districts but she could not be traced. Police had also issued a lookout notice. Jeethu was apprehended from the 'Theruvu Velicham' orphanage in Kakkanad Thursday evening.
