Introduction to NCBI's Center for Prevention and Treatment of Neurodegenerative Diseases

Published
Preventing neurodegenerative diseases in adults with a family history of dementia through a specific diet, interval heart rate cardiovascular exercise, and treating disorders that deplete cognitive reserves. These same interventions are also used to optimize cortical functioning in patients who have one or more neurodegenerative disease who are receiving various clinical research interventions at NCBI. Neurodegenerative diseases generally cause a cascade of pathological changes and to successfully treat these diseases, multiple treatment modalities are needed. The goal of treatment is to enhance cortical and cognitive functioning while curtailing the spread of the disease.
