HEALTHY SNICKERS BARS RECIPE (only 5 ingredients, vegan and high in protein!)
Today’s video is in honour of Halloween that just passed. A lot of you may be craving some of that halloween chocolatey goodness but number 1... it’s so bad for your body and number 2... most of it isn’t vegan!
Instead we are going to be making homemade snickers bars with real ingredients, no refined sugar, and some added protein so you don't have to feel guilty after eating these!
INGREDIENTS:
2 cups of Dates
1 scoop of your favourite chocolate protein powder
1/2 cup peanut butter (homemade peanut butter recipe here: https://youtu.be/0pnvRt8wVsA?si=nB9wXdDFU0ZeCP6m)
1/2 cup melted chocolate, 1 tsp coconut oil (or make your own chocolate spread by using 3 tbsp cacao powder, 4 tbsp water and 4 tbsp coconut oil)
Pinch of Sea salt
DIRECTIONS:
1. Make your bottom crust by pulsing dates, ensure they aren’t fully blended as you want to keep some texture.
2. Add a scoop of your favourite protein powder along with a couple Tbsp of water and pulse, add more water as needed until combined.
3. Spread mixture into the bottom of a freezable container. Add a handful of peanuts on top for extra crunch.
4. Set aside in the freezer while you make/melt the chocolate (this will help the chocolate spread easier).
5. Melt your chocolate on the stovetop or microwave with a tsp of coconut oil. Or combine your cacao powder, water and coconut oil until it has a spreadable consistency.
6. Take out the crust from the freezer, spread your chocolate on top, and top with a pinch sea salt.
7. Put back in the freezer for about 1 hour or until hard.
8. Cut into bite sized pieces and enjoy.
Keeps in the freezer up to one month for when those chocolate cravings hit!
