Hemoptysis is the coughing up blood or blood-stained mucus from the bronchi, larynx, trachea, or lungs. In other words, it is airway bleeding. This can occur with lung cancer, infections such as tuberculosis, bronchiectasis, or pneumonia, and certain cardiovascular conditions.
