Do you have trouble getting enough sleep or good quality sleep? Dr. McMillan, RN, PhD discusses the science behind why and how we sleep and the important relationship between sleep and exercise. Building on this foundation, she will offer some simple and effective sleep health strategies to help you get the sleep you need to feel and be your best.

Dr. Diana McMillan is a Registered Nurse and Associate Professor in the College of Nursing, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba as well as the Clinical Chair, Research for the Health Sciences Center. She earned her Bachelor of Nursing Science and Honours in Psychology at Queen’s University, a Master of Nursing Science at the University of Manitoba, her Doctorate in Nursing Science at the University of Washington (Seattle), in sleep and pain, and was a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Mayo Clinic studying sleep in patients with advanced cancer.

Dr. McMillan has an active research program in clinical nursing and multidisciplinary research spanning from patient engagement and education to nursing and interdisciplinary interventions to decrease delirium in the ICU, to sleep health and circadian rhythmicity in population health and in athletes. She has over 50 publications in journals and textbooks, has presented locally, nationally and internationally on the topic of sleep, and is frequently interviewed on CBC, CTV and CJOB.
