Gastro in Dogs/Treatment of Parvo infection in Dogs/Viral disease in dogs/Doctor Pets

Canine Parvo virus is a DNA virus, which is highly contagious. Some time mortality noted 100 % in dog infected with canine parvo infection..
It can be transmit through direct contact with infected dog to healthy dog or with infected dog excretions also can infect to healthy dog..
Parvo can be in cat, cattle, pig and even in human also..
Parvo infection can be happen in any breed of dog but labrador and doberman breed of dog more susceptible for canine parvo virus..
Infected dog show 2 forms of symptoms.
1) Enteric form / gastro form
2) cardiac form / heart sign

In gastro form ,
- initially increase in body temperature sometimes noticed 105°F .. Resulting anorexia means loss of Appetite
- loose motion and vomition/ emesis
- blood noticed in faeces in latter stage and sometimes in vomit.
- haemorrhagic diarrhoea / fowl smell.
- frothy yellowish watery vomit..
- Dehydation of body
- some time death due to severe dehydration.

In cardiac form..
- mostly happen in puppies below 10 wks of age.
- heart muscles degenerated.
- circulatory failure..
- cardiogenic shock noticed/ cardiac failure..
- if dog survive, cardiac and circulatory problem persist throughout life..

Diagnosis:
-From clinical sign and symptoms..
- ELISA Test, fluresense test
- Rapigen parvo antigen test ( Commercial kit).. In this faeces sample taken for diagnosis)..

Treatment:
- No any specific treatment for caninee parvo infection.
- only supportive and symptomatic treatment.
Prevention:
- Vaccination to puppy ( start at age of 45 days of puppy)..
- Don't take out your puppy without completion of all vaccines... It may take approx 3 to 4 month..
- if your dog died with complication of parvo virus then avoid to take another puppies up to 4 - 5 month.. If more necessory then clean that area with 2% hypochlorite solution including all feeding and watering utensils..
