CIOMS Working Group XI Consensus report on Patient involvement in the development, regulation and safe use of medicines

Patients should be systematically involved throughout a medicine’s life – from its early development, through regulatory process to ongoing monitoring and safe use in everyday healthcare. This webinar brings together patient organisation representatives, regulators, and other medicine development experts, as they introduce the consensus report of the Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS) Working Group on Patient involvement in the development, regulation and safe use of medicines. The report provides an overview of the current knowledge about the benefits of patient involvement and existing initiatives, gives examples and recommendations, and addresses the remaining challenges and practice gaps. The report prompts readers to implement its best practice recommendations according to how well they fit with their organisational and national needs.
