Can You Re-Radiate The Prostate? Is Surgery Better in Younger Men? | Mark Scholz, MD

Published
Medical oncologist Mark Scholz, MD answers patient's questions from our YouTube comments on salvage treatment after initial treatment with radiation and the risk of secondary cancers from radiation.

0:06 Are external beam radiation or further seeds (brachytherapy) options in the case of cancer recurrence after initial brachytherapy?

1:33 I was just diagnosed with Gleason 3+4=7 prostate cancer and my urologist wants me to do surgery because at 55 radiation of any type (his words) will put me at risk for bladder/rectal cancer in 10-15+ years. He would recommend radiation for older patients with fewer years at risk. So, as a "young" prostate cancer patient, does that make sense?
