Genetic and Enviornmental factors are responsible for thyroid imbalance and autoimmune condition.
PROTECT FROM RADIATION EXPOSURE - thyroid is vulnerable part of body. Thyroid gland is most sensitive to the radiation .Exposure can lead to thyroid cancer.
Before you undergo X-ray chest, Dental X-rays , Mammogram and MRI use thyroid collar / thyroid shield (a heavy , lead apron that covers your neck area). This protect your thyroid gland from radiation exposure. Take more care especially of children and young adults
STOP SMOKING -smoke has toxins like Thiocyanate and nicotine. They disrupts iodine uptake and can block the production of thyroid hormones. Smoking can increase thyroxine (T4) levels and decrease in (TSH) levels leading to Hyperthyroidism /Graves' disease and Graves Ophthalmopathy and can cause optic nerve damage. Smoking affects the deiodinase enzyme. Try to stop Smoking
Do the Thyroid Neck Check - A glass of water and a mirror can help in detecting lumps and swelling of thyroid if they're close to the surface. Many nodules aren't able to be seen or felt, so if you have other symptoms.
Stay away from starvation diet - 53 percent reduction in serum T3 levels and a 58 percent increase in reverse T3 (RT3) levels, which block thyroid hormone. Starvation increase in cortisol (stress hormone).
Soy is a controversial for thyroid health. It has isoflavones which alters thyroid function. Consuming in moderation is best.
Mediterranean diet containing 4 to 5 servings of vegetables and 3 to 4 servings of fruit each day, along with plenty of lean proteins and healthy fats - extra-virgin olive oil, , coconut oil nuts, nut butters, and avocados.
PROBOTICS- They modulate the immune system, enhance gut motility, and improve intestinal permeability. Active cultures Saccahromyces boulardii and Lactobacillus acidophilus or eating natural sources like yogurt and kefir, dhokla, idli, dosa, buttermilk, kimchi, dhokla, pickles
Selenium - 200 mcg daily can reduce anti-thyroid antibodies like thyroperoxidase (TPO), decreases symptoms of hypothyroidism
In pregnant women, its supplementation can decreases postpartum thyroiditis.

70% of our autoimmune system is found intestines, known as GALT, or gut-associated lymphoid tissue. It causes poor absorption of minerals like iodine and selenium, and lead to deficiencies and trigger thyroid dysfunction. gluten free diet will reduce thyroid symptoms and prevent you
Avoiding antibacterial soaps and sanitisers that contain triclosan which is endocrine disruptor.
