देशभरात गेल्या दोन ते तीन महिन्यांपासून फ्लूसदृश लक्षणं असलेल्या आजाराची साथ पसरली आहे. हा फ्लूचाच एक प्रकार असल्याचं आणि 'फ्लू ए' चा उपप्रकार H3N2 या विषाणूमुळे त्याचा प्रादूर्भाव होत असल्याचं आयसीएमआरने स्पष्ट केलंय. सतत खोकला, त्याच्या जोडीला ताप ही या आजाराची लक्षणं आहेत. फ्लूच्या इतर उपप्रकारांपेक्षा H3N2 बाधितांचं रूग्णालयात दाखल होण्याचं प्रमाण अधिक आहे. सर्दी, खोकला, ताप, मळमळ, उलट्या, घसादुखी, अंगदुखी, अतिसार ही या आजाराची इतर लक्षणं आहेत. त्यावर उपचार करताना सरसकट अँटीबायोटिक्स देऊ नयेत, आणि डॉक्टरांनी सध्या केवळ लक्षणांवर औषधं द्यावी असा सल्ला आयएमएने दिलाय. हा हंगामी ताप पाच ते सात दिवस येतो. हा ताप तीन दिवसांनी जातो तर खोकला मात्र तीन आठवड्यांपर्यंत राहू शकतो असं आयएमएच्या समितीने म्हटलंय. या विषाणूचा प्रादुर्भाव मुख्यत: हवेतून होत आहे. १५ पेक्षा कमी आणि ५०हून अधिक वयाच्या रुग्णांमध्ये या विषाणूचा प्रादुर्भाव अधिक आहे. हा आजार जीवघेणा नाही. पण श्वसनमार्गाला संसर्ग होत असल्याने रूग्णालयात दाखल करावं लागू शकतं.

An epidemic of flu-like symptoms has been spreading across the country for the past two to three months. ICMR has explained that this is a type of flu and that it is caused by the subtype H3N2 virus of 'flu A'. Constant cough along with fever are the symptoms of this disease. H3N2 infections have a higher rate of hospitalization than other flu subtypes. Other symptoms of this disease are cold, cough, fever, nausea, vomiting, sore throat, body ache, diarrhea.The IMA advises that antibiotics should not be given outright when treating it, and that doctors should only prescribe symptomatic drugs for the time being. This seasonal fever occurs for five to seven days. The IMA committee said that the fever goes away after three days, but the cough can last up to three weeks. The spread of this virus is mainly through the air. The prevalence of this virus is higher in patients aged less than 15 and more than 50 years. This disease is not life threatening. But due to respiratory tract infection, hospitalization may be required.
